Often out of focus photographs and most digitized images need to be sharpened. The blurring is due to the digitizing process that must chop a color continuum into points using slightly different colors. The odd name the ‘Unsharpen Filter’ can be used to actually enhance the images. This filter is considered to be the king of the ’sharpening filter’.

The filter normally accepts three parameters, the radius, the amount of sharpening and the threshold.

Radius

The radius defines how many pixels on either side of an edge are affected by sharpening. It is actually better to sharpen a filter at its final resolution.

Radius=1

Radius 5

Amount

The amount is a factor that determines the sharpening amount. The higher the more sharpening.

Amount 100,250
